For each day that we are off of school due to weather, students should complete one assignment from each subject. These polar pack assignments will begin on the 6th school cancellation. Students may choose any activity under each subject.

Reading *Read a book of choice for 30 minutes. Then, write a summary of what you read. *Read a book of choice for 30 minutes. On a piece of paper, write the title of the book, the name of the main character and 2 traits that could be used to describe him or her.. Include two pieces of evidence from the text to support your opinion. *Read a book of choice for at least 30 minutes. Write at least 3 “fat” questions that you were thinking about as you read.
Writing *Write a paragraph about your favorite season. Make sure you give evidence to support why it is your favorite season. *Write a letter or an email to Mrs. Edelbrock telling her how you spent your snow day. *Write a story about anything you’d like to write about. *Use each of the following words in sentences:adventurous, compassionate, courageous, determined, impatient
Math *Cut apart the attached division and mult. equations. Use them to play BINGO with someone at home, using the attached card. (This was sent home with you.) *Write 4 multiplication story problems and 4 division story problems. Make sure you include the equations that match the story problems. *Go to math playground.com Select 2 third grade games to play for at least 30 minutes.OR go to mathlearningcenter.org and play 2 interactive games on the Bridges’ website. *Study your flashcards for 20 minutes. Then, complete the attached math fact worksheet.
Science *Go to National Geographic Kids on the internet. Read about any animal. On a piece of paper write the name of the animal you read. List the animal’s adaptations that help it survive. *Watch the video on states of matter:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKGmQ3Vyp-4On a piece of paper, write the difference between a solid, liquid and gas. Then, list 5 examples of things found in your home which would be an example of each state of matter. *On the internet, look up the weather in Maumee last year on this day. Compare and contrast today’s weather with today’s weather. Create a Venn Diagram to show the similarities and differences. *Read about solar energy (example: renewableenergyworld.com .or any other website). Make a T-chart which lists the pros and cons of this alternative energy source
Social Studies *Create a timeline, showing how you spent your snow day *Select any US state that interests you. Research interesting places to visit in the state, what the state is most known for, other states that border it, and any interesting facts that you can find. Write a mini report about your research.(ducksters.com and National Geographic for kids are great websites) *Research any National Park (Yosemite, Yellowstone, Denali, Arches, Saguaro, Carlsbad Caverns, etc). Write a paragraph that describes the park you researched, including where it is located and what you would see if you went there. *Do something kind for 2 people (mom, dad, brother, sister) to show them what a good citizen you are. Have an adult sign this square to show you did something for 2 people.
